Robots from the comics and more from Monster Complex 4/16/24
Plus vampire books, ranking Godzilla monsters, and that time Leonard Nimoy told us to watch The Simpsons.
Welcome to another issue of the Monster Complex™ weekly newsletter! We have a brand-new article about robots from the comics, more about that big-deal ROBOT MONSTER anthology, plus a big list with vampire books and another list with giant monsters. We also look back at one of our favorite crossovers—when The X-Files investigated The Simpsons. All that plus links to the latest chapters from my crime comedy that is (not quite) the End-Times thriller I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT KINGDOM COME.
Have a great week!

Now on Kickstarter is the upcoming 3-D graphic novel anthology that celebrates and/or expands on and/or makes fun of the 1950s alien invasion horror movie ROBOT MONSTER. I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT KINGDOM COME
Continuing to serialize my crime comedy novel I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT KINGDOM COME about a religious man’s confused decision—and how it gets him in a LOT of trouble with bad people.
I’m posting a chapter every Thursday and Saturday. (And including the links in each week’s Monster Complex™ newsletter.)
I’m also posting audio commentaries. (We’ll see whether I can think of enough things to say for that many chapters.)
Start at the beginning (including the intro, table of contents, and the promo video)
MOST RECENT CHAPTERS
Let’s Do the Mash: “The Springfield Files”
When Arts Collide: Celebrating mashups that have captured my heart—including movies, books, music, and more
While the longtime animated TV show The Simpsons has had LOTS of guest stars, one of my FAVORITE examples was when the show crossed over with The X-Files. (Simpsons episode 8.10)
When Homer thinks he discovered an alien in Springfield, the lead actors from The X-Files… in character as Mulder and Scully… show up to investigate.
Adding to the episode’s greatness are the guest host segments from Leonard Nimoy, who is parodying his own 1977-1982 TV show IN SEARCH OF...
By the way, in a scene with a police lineup, the episode’s guest cameos also include Alf (from the 1980s sitcom), Chewbacca (from Star Wars), Marvin the Martian (from Looney Tunes), and Gort (from the classic SF movie The Day the Earth Stood Still).
